Weight loss for women that spend a lot of time at home can be a challenge.

Do you often find yourself mindlessly munching your way through your day? If so, you may recognize yourself below.

The Garbage Disposal.

Women with children at home lick the peanut butter off the knife when making a sandwich. Not wanting to see your child's leftovers go to waste, you nibble on it. You find yourself dipping a spoon in for a little taste as you make the dinner.

I hate to tell you but those calories do count and it all adds up. You'd be surprised at how many extra calories you consume if you start counting.

You wander down to the kitchen and have a snack.

Eating as a Form of Meditation.

You're not even paying attention as you reach for a snack. Once you begin eating, you notice that the textures, flavors, colors and smells of the food make you very aware of the present moment.

This is very much like meditation.

When you realize how much you've eaten, the guilt
sets in and you start kicking yourself.

It's All in Your Mind.

You may have decided that the next time you are tempted to do some munching; you will choose to do something else instead. You even make a list of alternative things you can do. You decide that you'll go for a walk, read a book or choose celery instead.

The problem is that when you are reaching for a snack, you have forgotten all about those strategies. All those well thought out plans went out the window. You never even gave them a chance.

Here's Why.

That nice list of alternatives to eating is created by your conscious mind which is the part of you that is logical. You consciously create this list by evaluation and critiquing all the options. You're certain that you'll choose one instead of a snack.

The trouble begins when the little voice in your head says "I don't want to!" That's the subconscious mind. It is the keeper of all the beliefs you have about food. It's probably telling you that "You'll feel better if you eat that cupcake."

Mind Power

The key to changing the munching habit is to reprogram your subconscious mind using a simple process of self hypnosis. When your subconscious mind holds the belief that "I only eat when I am hungry", you won't have to try to remember to pull out that list of non-eating alternatives and see which one you might try.

Instead, you'll simply check in with your stomach to see if you are hungry. If you are, then you'll choose to eat. If not, then you won't.
