When you view dieting as a punishment for that hamburger and french fries that you ate you end up with a defeatist attitude. As a child you tried to avoid being punished so why would you want to do it to yourself now? Instead, of looking at your diet as one of deprivation, look at it as a reward to give yourself health and energy. A better attitude will go a long to motivate you to stay on track. 4. Giving Up Too Soon. Realize that weight loss is not immediate. It’s normal to have setbacks. If you have a night of pizza and beer, don’t feel like you have completely fallen off the diet wagon. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and forgive yourself. Renew your commitment to the process of losing weight. Keep the big picture in mind. 5. Unrealistic Expectations. You dream of a sculpted body and six-pack abs. You want to look like an action hero or Olympic athlete. While you may want a perfect body . . . and who doesn’t . . . it’s not likely to happen. Set realistic goals and remind yourself of them daily. A realistic goal includes more than just a number on a scale. Create a vivid picture of what you will look like and how your life will be different. Will you be able to play ball with your kids? Walk up the stairs without straining? Have better posture and appear more confident? Use self hypnosis to integrate this picture of success within your subconscious mind. It will make the whole weight loss process easier for you. The difference? You’ll be moving towards your goals instead of away from being overweight. Self hypnosis makes a huge difference in avoiding these mistakes in weight loss for men.
