Waiting To Hit Rock Bottom For My Moment Of Truth

I have been overweight most of my life and I am currently more than 100 pounds overweight. It's like a comfort zone but I am not comfortable at all. I hate the way I look and feel.
I've often thought about losing weight but I have never really done anything about it. Every time I give it a try, I last for a couple of days and then go right back to my old ways. I know that I am killing myself.
I hear so many weight loss stories where they hit rock bottom and get that moment of truth. It hasn't happened to me yet. I realize that I will never lose weight until I hit rock bottom. I don't know what that point will be. You would think that would happen when I step on the scale but I just avoid the scale.
I don't know how to begin and I am scared. I am afraid that it has a hold on me and that it will kill me.
Sherri here: When you say "I will never lose weight until I hit rock bottom" you are programming yourself. What if instead, you were to begin talking to yourself in a different way and start saying "It is easy to change my eating habits" And "I only eat when I am physiologically hungry"? I'll tell you what happens. Right away, you will notice a change in your attitude. It's a simple shift in perspective.
You know, I agree, a comfort zone isn't comfortable at all. It's just familiar. We know it like the back of our hand and we fear change. Make that simple change of a shift in thought.
Here's how you start. Carry a small notepad or notebook with you for one full day. Begin to pay attention to what you are saying to yourself. Many are surprised to find out that they are not saying nice things at all to themselves. In fact, many find that they say things to themselves that they would never say to someone else. Things that they wouldn't tolerate others saying to them either.
