Stress Relief With Self Hypnosis
Wondering if someone who is deeply depressed could benefit from self hypnosis? I have a friend who, after losing her only daughter to cancer a few years back, and then her husband last year is so deeply depressed she simply lays on the couch all day. She won't leave the house, and barely eats. Her doctor says it's nothing physical, she's simply depressed! Could this help her?
Sherri's Answer: Your friend is very lucky to have someone like you who cares so much. There is nothing simple about depression, it can be debilitating. Hypnosis is not a cure for depression but it can give some relief to the symptoms. I am glad that your friend is under the care of a doctor.
Meanwhile, self hypnosis can help her to relax and take care of herself. Self hypnosis is different than meditation because it has a clear focus. Before beginning any hypnosis session, have your intention in mind... in this case, clearing the mind and relieving stress.
The quality of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts. When she begins to shift her thoughts towards a positive intention, she will begin to see results. That is what self hypnosis does for you.
I see the benefit to using self hypnosis in this case, as providing relief from the symptoms of stress. Physical symptoms include headache, frequent colds and aching muscles. Emotional symptoms might include difficulty focusing or concentrating.
A regular practice of self hypnosis will begin to shift thoughts away from what you DON'T want and towards what you DO want. New thought patterns will emerge that say "I'm relaxed" instead of "I'm stressed" You'll start to talk to yourself differently. In a more supportive way.
To make it simple, we've created an easy to use hypnosis mp3. Self hypnosis is a proven and effective tool used to relieve stress. All you have to do is listen.
