If I hypnotize myself, how do I know if it has actually worked? I'd like to use self hypnosis to reduce stress. What can you recommend?
Sherri's Answer: Great question! The short answer is that you will know that your self hypnosis has worked when you see results.
I think the reason there is some confusion is that hypnosis is commonly misunderstood. People often feel that they are going to be completely 'knocked out' or unconscious. Not true!
When you are in a state of self hypnosis and hypnotic trance, you will feel a deep sense of relaxation. It feels really good. You will remain aware of everything around you but you will be completely focused on your goal.
So, if your goal is stress reduction, you will be completely focused on that. Your subconscious mind will be open to accepting suggestions that you are relaxed and you will leave all your troubles behind.
