Does Grinding Teeth
Keep You Awake?

Are you grinding teeth at night and find yourself with a pounding headache when you wake up?

Does your loved one complain that you are a noisy sleeper?

Have your teeth become really sensitive to hot, cold or pressure?

Grinding teeth or bruxism can occur during the day though it is most common at night while we sleep.

You probably don’t even know that you are doing it until someone tells you so.
It could be your dentist. Maybe the last time you went to the dentist you were told that you have significant damage to your teeth and gums. You may have ground down your teeth or even cracked them. Your enamel will not grow back and so you must deal with the teeth grinding or will cost you a lot of money to get veneers or crowns.

It could be your loved one that tells you about your teeth grinding. While on vacation and sharing a hotel room, Margot‘s sister complained that she was making awful noises through the night. Margot was not even aware that she had been doing it and yet it explained why her jaw was often sore and tense and she suffered from migraine headaches. Her dentist confirmed that her teeth were flat from all the teeth grinding.

You may not even realize that you are grinding teeth until you wake up with a headache or a tight jaw or even neck pain. That’s because bruxism is an unconscious behavior.

The main reason you are grinding teeth is stress. People who are under stress tend to grind their teeth more. The best way to deal with bruxism is to deal with the underlying stress and anxiety.

It’s very common with students during exams. They are under a tremendous amount of stress and often feel test anxiety. It shows up as teeth grinding.

You don’t know you are doing this because it is an unconscious behavior. If you were conscious of it, you would simply stop doing it. Self hypnosis is one of the best ways of making changes to unconscious behaviors. You can use hypnosis to create new, more useful behaviors so that you will wake up refreshed and relaxed rather than tense and sore. Self hypnosis can help you relax the jaw muscles to accomplish this.

Of course, I must add to this discussion, that you should see a dentist to rule out any medical reason before relying solely on hypnosis and anxiety management.

The complete relaxation that hypnosis brings to you can bring relief to nagging tension, anxiety and stress. It’s effective, natural and completely safe.

Though some people find better and faster results with a professional hypnotist, you can use self hypnosis at home by simply following these simple instructions. It’s simple, yet it does take some action on your part to make it successful.

You’ll be glad you did when you find yourself sleeping through the night without clenching your teeth.
