Three Causes of Stress
What are the top three causes of stress? 1. Workplace/job. Working longer hours with less pay at a job that you are overqualified for or don’t like. Being stuck in traffic with a long commute wears you down. 2. Relationships/family. It gets hectic juggling the family schedule. Communication has been reduced to text messaging with your children and spouse. 3. Economy/financial. Credit card debt is rising and so are foreclosures. Even if you are not in foreclosure, chances are your neighbor is. That affects housing prices for everyone. Our lives have become more complicated as we are stretched to our limit. We end up with a feeling and sense of isolation. We wonder ‘why we’re doing it’. We crave connection and we’re not getting it. So what do we do? We turn to the things we are familiar with. We turn to our habits because like them or not, habits are our friends. We are familiar with them. Even though we want to let them go, it’s like letting go of an old friend. So when we feel stress, we turn to comfort food. Or cigarettes. Or arguments. Or whatever else you turn to that you are familiar with. Only it doesn’t give you comfort. The stress gets worse. Instead of being comforted it leaves you exhausted, hopeless, miserable and withdrawn. The symptoms of stress can be both physical and mental. The trouble is that we often forget why we do what we do. Self hypnosis puts the focus back where it belongs. That’s what hypnosis really is all about. It’s giving yourself the gift of time to focus specifically on one thing without being distracted. It’s being hyper focused on something by giving it your full and complete attention. If we take some time to remember ‘why we’re doing it’ we can reduce our stress. Self hypnosis can help. If your sense of mission isn’t clear, grab some quiet time and give it some thought. Use the 5 Rules of Autosuggestion to help create your vision.
